g.nome is an ongoing, evolving solo musical/multimedia project by Victor Penniman. Ladies and Gentleman, the guy plays the electric viola da gamba while orchestrating an entire electronic medley. It is truly and undeniably unique.
the soulless minions of orthodoxy == the halls of the scientific establishmentIt's a common trope that the scientific community despises new technology or research into "playing gods" fields, that they hate new ideas in favor of existing ones. And with the history of certain subjects, like flat vs round earth, geo centric vs helio centric, origin of species, dinosaurs having feathers, etc, it would be right.
For all you trekkies, it is phrase used in DS9 episode: In the cards:
In the words of Victor Penniman, g.nome is "flowing freely from ambient instrumental textures into striking, often funky improvisations into songs and back again. With influences as diverse as Medieval European Polyphony, Indonesian gamelan, Japanese Gagaku, European opera, and 70s Funk, Rock, and Jazz, g.nome (pronounced “gee’-nome”) and the soulless minions of orthodoxy creates music from across time and distance to which "you may groove as you will."
And groove I shall, brush in hand to tell the story of the world that has never been as it is now: So full with so many living so long, worldwide connectivity. We are the millennium and while none of us steer the world, we each pick our own path and through us each the collective the path of the future, to the stars, through destruction, beyond impossible, and guided by the light in the darkness. Isn't that reason enough to groove together?
